Description: The NRA Basic Pistol Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a handgun safely. This course is 10 hours over two days and includes both range and classroom work. Students will learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammuniton; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, two handed and one handed standing firing positions; cleaning and maintenance of the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive a copy of the “Basics of Pistol Shooting” handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. There will take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination administered. A course certification is issued upon completion.
