NewsFathers AfieldWe are pleased to announce that Ruston Gun Club has instituted a new program directed specifically at the young men who do not have a father or father figure in the home. Our program is not limited to the children of single parent homes but we are addressing the need for the presence of a man in the life of a young man to introduce him to the outdoor heritage. The plan for our first year is to hold several shooting weekends to introduce our participants to the outdoors, shooting and hunting techniques. The range days presently scheduled are June 26 and 27, July 10 and 11, August 21 and 22 and September 4 and 5, 2010. The plan is to bring the kids out for a day of shooting practice and we will need members to volunteer for these days and to take a kid hunting when squirrel hunting season opens. We presently have two hunting leases which have agreed to allow us to take the kids hunting on their leases prior to the opening of deer season. In addition we have the Jackson Bienville WMA very close by. We will be needing volunteers and sponsors. If you would like to participate call either me or Rodney Johnson. |
