Automobile Engagement
Description: One day training and practice on engagement of single and multiple opponents while seating in, emerging from and restrained inside a motor vehicle. With the amount of time spent inside a motor vehicle and the high incidence of encounters while driving it is imperative that the well trained individual become proficient in techniques to be employed from a motor vehicle.

Civilian Marksmanship Program Garand Clinic
Description: Civilian Marksmanship Program Garand Clinic The match is fired over a 100 yard rifle range. Any bolt action or automatic rifle equipped with iron sights and can be reloaded either via stripper clips or detachable magazine is permissible. Shooters are not limited to those types of rifles allowed in High Power rifle competition. Caliber may range from .22 to .45. No 50 caliber BMG allowed. Service and Match rifles are specifically permitted. Hearing and eye protection are required. All safety rules apply and the range officer may disallow the use of any rifle if it appears unsafe. Stage One 10 minutes for sighting in Stage Two Standing, 10 shots slow fire, in 10 minutes. Slings are permitted. Stage Three Sitting, 10 shots rapid fire in 60 seconds. Stage Four Prone, 10 shots rapid fire, in 70 seconds. Stage Five Prone, 20 shots slow fire, in 20 minutes. 500 points possible Upon satisfactory completion of required demonstration of knowledge of safe gun handling, firearms familiarity, range procedures and range firing activity a certification of completion shall be issued which will entitle the bearer to purchase surplus rifles directly from the CMP. All too often individuals become complacent while in their automobiles believing themselves protected by the metal and glass surrounding them. Rather than such complacency individuals should consider that you may be engaged in a gunfight with an automobile strapped to your behind. Your freedom of movement and actions are curtailed by the encumbrance of your chosen means of transportation. Defense from within and defense from without an automobile presents unique challenges and situations for which all armed citizens should prepare for. Skills for Living

Description: Clinic Description 310 Engagement By Darkness One day training and practice on search and engagement of single and multiple targets in low light and night conditions. Exploration of multiple light utilization techniques, target engagement and identification is stressed. The majority of armed confrontations occur in situations of low light or darkness in which positive identification of a threat and more importantly that which is not a threat and therefore a target is imperative. No shot should be fired without knowing positively that the target is a threat and not a loved one or innocent person. You should not fear the dark, your opponent should fear meeting you in the dark. Clinic 315 Instinctive Shooting
Description: Clinic Description 315 Instinctive Shooting One day training and practice on engagement of single and multiple opponents at ranges from contact to 15 yards employing non sighted and instinctive shooting techniques. Techniques studied include instinctive shooting techniques developed by W.E. Fairbairn and E.A. Sykes and refined by Col. Rex Applegate. This technique utilizes the natural pointing ability of the human body and focuses upon the innate ability to aim through proper position using the natural stance and engage accurately at close range. This course covers the development and history of the instinctive shooting systems, the basic principles, shooting positions, engagement of multiple opponents and engagement while moving. Description: Clinic Description 320 Close Quarters Engagement One day training and practice on hand and firearm training techniques for the engagement of a single opponent at hand to hand distance. The techniques will include blocking and counter strike hand techniques, movement and firing at close range. Techniques will include attacks by unarmed opponent, pistol armed opponent and knife armed opponent. This program includes specialized training bridging the gap between engaging an opponent with your bare hands to use of your firearm to prevail in an altercation at arms length. All techniques are practiced at realistic close range from 3 feet to a maximum of 21 feet. Rapid incapacitation techniques are emphasized. The power of the rifle and the ability to project power at ranges not possible with a handgun makes the rifle an excellent means of personal protection. This program includes specialized training to use your firearm to prevail in an altercation from arms length out to 100 yards. The fundamental principles of using a rifle include  Loading and ammunition management  stance  sling and carry techniques  malfunction clearance techniques  basic trajectory  presentation from the low ready, hunt position, high ready combat position  rapid sight acquisition  delivering of controlled pairs and accelerated pairs,  multiple shots  firing positions  threat assessment  movement and engagement of multiple opponents in realistic scenarios. Clinic 330 Multiple Opponents / Movement and Engagements
Description: Clinic Description 330 Multiple Opponents / Movement and Engagement One day training and practice on firearm training techniques for the engagement of multiple opponent with a defensive firearm. All techniques are for the engagement of more than one opponent at various distances. Emphasis is on movement while in the engagement of multiple opponents including movement in all directions for the purpose of prevailing in an armed confrontation. Standing, kneeling and prone firing positions are all represented. The interrelated techniques of movement, presentation, sight alignment, trigger control and accuracy are studied at depth in this one day clinic. The aspect of moving from one position to the other while maintaining stance, readiness to engage and search techniques is the least explored and practiced area of personal defense techniques however it is one of the most important. All students are introduced to the concept of movement and engagement in the introductory concealed carry permit class. This clinic devotes a full day to the attainment of proficiency and confidence. The power of the shotgun whether loaded with birdshot, buckshot or slugs and the ability to bring excellent power to bear on an opponent at handgun ranges makes the shotgun an excellent means of personal protection. The fundamentals of shooting the shotgun are explored including:  rapid deployment techniques  stance  presentation from ready positions  loading and ammunition management  sling carry  transition to slug  multiple opponents  movement  engagement with slug at 75 and 100 yards. Clinic training will include the use of hand and weapons mounted light systems. The utilization of lights, search techniques, identification and night engagement is presented and live night firing is included. Prerequisites: None Any shotgun of any action type is appropriate, preferably with sights and sling. Rifle or ghost ring aperture sights are the best and provide increased accuracy at all ranges and especially on engagement of targets with slugs at 75+ yards. Clinic 345 FAA Sky Marshall Qualification
Description: Clinic Description 345 FAA Sky Marshall Qualification One day training and practice on qualification requirement for employment as a Federal Air Marshal. Other requirements include being a U.S. citizen of good character under 37 years of age and eligible for top secret security clearance. Completion of this clinic will answer the question in your mind of whether I could qualify. A total of 30 shots are fired on an FBI Q target from seven yards in a combined total time of 33.8 seconds. Maximum possible score of 150. Shots inside the bottle score 5, shots on the line or outside score 2 points. Minimum qualification score is 135. All stages must be successfully completed to qualify. All stages of fire are fired from seven yards. This is not a class for the novice shooter. Prerequisites: none Equipment: .38 caliber or greater revolver or pistol, a pistol that can be deployed rapidly without excess manipulation is the best. Automatic pistols are the preferred arm as the test requires rapid reloading. No lasers or flashlights. The emphasis is on instantaneous incapacitation with the employment of accurate fire for head and spinal shots. All shots are directed to the immediate and instantaneous stopping of a person threatening a loved one with a weapon. This program includes specialized training to use your firearm to prevail in an altercation at arms length out to 15 yards. Participation in this clinic will answer the question of whether I can hit him between the eyes before he can shoot someone. Description: Clinic Description – 360 Bullseye Pistol This one day intensive clinic takes the fascinating art and science of precise placement of a bullet into the center of a circular bullseye target breaks it down into its several components and focuses on the attainment and refinement of the skills necessary to perform all of the psychological and psycho motor functions that must coalesce to equal a winning score. This clinic focuses on and prepares the participant to fire the three courses of fire with confidence and accuracy. Each stage of the course of fire is broken down into modules with dry fire practice, visualization, realistic enactment and live firing. Description: Clinic Description A Day at the Range This one day clinic is available to any graduate of one of our classes or clinics. The skills at arms learned are a perishable commodity and all are very busy with our lives today. Sometimes it is good to just take a day and devote it to honing those skills at arms, enjoying the company of like minded individuals and exercising not only one’s mind and muscles but also our innate freedom to exercise our rights. Now you have the opportunity to come back, take your time and perfect your technique or try some new ones with an instructor. The choice of firearm is yours, the choice of study is yours, the range is yours for one day. Prerequisite: Graduate of any class including the Concealed Carry Permit class. Clinic NRA Women On Target
Description: The National Rifle Association in association with Ruston Gun Club, Inc. sponsor an NRA Women On Target Instructional Shooting Clinics at Ruston Gun Club, Inc., 1954 Wafer Road, Ruston, La. 71270. The goal of NRA’s Women On Target program is to introduce women to the shooting sports and to provide them the opportunity to meet and interact with other women with similar interests. This program sponsors women-only instructional shooting clinics. No prior experience is required and the only prerequisite is a desire to learn and to have fun. All necessary equipment will be provided, including firearms, ammunition, eye/ear protection, instructional materials and refreshments. This clinic will feature introduction and familiarization in the safe handling, operation, use and enjoyment of .22 caliber pistols and rifles, 20 gauge shotgun to learn the fundamentals of shooting in a relaxed and fun-filled environment. Pre-registration is recommended but no one will be turned away. Participants under the age of 18 will require a parent or legal guardian to remain and to be present throughout the clinic.
